And Sado-Masochists Rejoiced Throughout the Land...

I'm working on an essay concerning certain significant parallels between Israel's assault on Gaza and United States foreign policy generally. The title: "Murderers' Stratagems." I hope to publish it later today or tomorrow.

While looking for another earlier essay (which I found a few moments later), I came across a passage from "The Depravity of Empire" that I thought I'd share with you. I looked over the "Depravity" article, and I will say without modesty: it is good. If you have the time and inclination, I hope you will read it.

In the course of that piece (written in September 2007), I noted the Senate's approval of "a resolution ... urging the Bush administration to designate Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a foreign terrorist organization..." I then wrote:
You have to hand it to the Washington Democrats and those commentators and bloggers who continue to shill for them. The Democrats count on the American public and their lobotomized lapdogs not to remember significant events from one week to the next -- and the Democrats' enablers willingly render themselves deaf, dumb and blind. The Democrats first put on a phony show of aggressively questioning Petraeus and doubting his propagandistic claims, and very shortly thereafter they rely on Petraeus's lies to set the stage for World War III.

I almost admire the Democrats' defenders in a certain way. The Democrats stab them deep in the gut and, while the knife is disemboweling them, the Democrats continue to lie in their agony-ridden faces -- and the victims still tell these bastards they will continue to support them. This collection of subhumans give sado-masochists a bad name. The commitment to cruelty, self-abasement and self-humiliation is all but perfect. It's no wonder they can regard one genocide after another with equanimity. It appears none of these people has a conscience any longer to be troubled in the smallest degree.
I see that a disturbing flaw in my perspective revealed itself yet again in this passage: I am far too generous and charitable. It is a terrible problem; I continue to work on it, without much success. Ah, well.

Yet how little I appreciated the comprehensiveness of the self-lobotomizations eagerly undertaken by Democratic partisans, including almost all leading progressive and liberal commentators and bloggers. It took The Wondrous One to destroy all possibility of meaningful opposition for the foreseeable future, and to enable the triumph of close to total ignorance of history, coupled with a profound inability to grasp political theory or reality. Simultaneously, these partisan-apologists are the same people who proclaim how "pragmatic" they are -- while those few of us who insist on an accurate assessment of the meaning of our government's actions are accused of being pathetically "irresponsible" idealists. O, the irony! (See "Silenced: Barack Obama and the End of Struggle toward Truth and Freedom," and the essays linked near the beginning of that essay, for a discussion of the many destructions brought to us by our wunderkind, past, present and future.)

But just think of it: we can now look forward to four additional years of ignorance, stupidity, cruelty, self-abasement and self-humiliation, with the progressives and liberals filling the void that would otherwise have been left by conservative and "libertarian" writers. Maybe eight! Or even more!! Is this what people mean by "continuity" in government? Cool, baby.

If you get your kicks from notably grisly Grand Guignol, you'll be in blood and guts heaven. Granted, it will be Grand Guignol with a somewhat unfamiliar flavor. Imagine: a beatifically smiling Obama, perhaps standing next to stern-faced termagant Nancy Pelosi, as Atrios, et al. rush to see who can cut out his own guts with the greatest dispatch and offer up their blood-dripping entrails, all before they're even asked for them. Awful, or offal, offerings to the political gods, if you will. (An offering of brains is entirely unnecessary at this point. Could they even find them? We are assured that Obama is "practical," above all. He will not demand the impossible.)

That's entertainment, folks! I truly wish that real life would no longer surpass the worst excesses of my nightmarish imaginings...
